The Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda opens a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for Technical Preparation of Marine Spatial Plans of Specific National Strategic Areas in Pulau Subi Kecil and Pulau Cepala. The FGD is held by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Riau Islands Province, locates in the Meeting Room 2nd Floor, office of the Natuna’s Regent, Friday Morning (20/ 05).
The Head of Department of Fisheries, the Heads of the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD), the Sub-District Head of Pulau Subi, and a retinue of KKP team from Riau Islands Province also attend the occasion.
Rodhial Huda in his speech mentions that Natuna Sea Zoning is so vital acknowledging that Natuna is one of the border areas in Indonesia which has complex issues related to territorial sea boundary disputes.
He opines it is crucial to strengthen the defense and security system in an attempt to protect not only the Republic of Indonesia’s territorial sovereignty but also the national potential of marine fisheries.
It is for this reason the FGD is considered important to accommodate any aspiration, idea, and suggestion --particularly from the local community of Subi Sub-District, so people are able to convey aspirations or make complaints to Government without constraint.
FGD is one of the basic instruments and references for both the control of coastal areas development and the use of marine spatial plans in Pulau Subi Kecil and Pulau Cepala. FGD is expected to offer the greatest number of benefits not only for the protection and preservation of marine ecosystems, coastal and small islands, but also for the development of coastal areas through the economic growth.
Rodhial expects such valid data and information can be collected by the Forum Group Discussion as a support for the better and more effective planning, development, and use of marine areas. (Pro_Kopim/Sri, Diana)
