Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan officially inaugurated a Sago Processing Facility in Kelanga Village, Northeast Bunguran District, on Tuesday morning (30/12). The event was attended by local officials, including the sub-district head, village government representatives, community leaders, and local residents.
The facility is part of a Kelanga Village Government initiative aimed at strengthening village-level food security by actively involving local residents in the production process.
The sago processing facility was developed using 20 percent of the Village Fund Allocation (ADD), specifically earmarked for food security programs, and implemented in collaboration with the village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) Mitra Harapan Kelanga.
In her remarks, Regent Cen Sui Lan commended the Kelanga Village Government for its strategic and well-targeted use of village funds. She highlighted the initiative as a strong example of how local food potential can be transformed into innovative programs that other villages—with diverse resources—can replicate.
She noted that sago holds significant potential as an alternative food source with economic value. Beyond supporting food security, sago processing is expected to create jobs and increase village income.
Meanwhile, Kelanga Village Head Asmuri stated that the program is designed to optimize the village’s natural resources while empowering the local community. He expressed hope that the sago processing facility will become a key driver of Kelanga’s economic growth in the future. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
