Harvest Season in Padang Angus: Natuna Regent Praises Local Farmers

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan joined members of the Jaya Farmer Group in Padang Angus, Binjai Village, West Bunguran District, on Tuesday afternoon (02/12) to celebrate a large-scale tomato and chili harvest.

Her arrival was met with enthusiasm as farmers showcased a wide variety of produce—proof of their hard work, teamwork, and the area’s growing potential as a supplier of key food commodities.

Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation to the entire farmer group, noting that their success demonstrates how agriculture, when managed with focus and commitment, can become a promising sector—supporting food security while also improving community welfare.

She added that beyond meeting local demand, Padang Angus farmers could eventually contribute to supplying fresh ingredients for the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

According to the Regent, the farmers’ ability to maintain strong production quality shows that Natuna’s agricultural sector has significant room to grow. She encouraged other districts to learn from and adopt similar practices.

During the visit, she also emphasized the importance of consistent production to ensure year-round availability of tomatoes and chilies. She encouraged farmers to keep improving cultivation techniques, adopt appropriate technologies, and strengthen cooperation within their groups.

Farmers in Padang Angus said the Regent’s presence and direct support motivated them to continue developing their horticultural production. They hope the regional government will keep providing guidance and assistance—especially in seeds, irrigation, and market access. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
