During the official visit of the Deputy Chair of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to Natuna Regency, a coordination meeting with regional government representatives was held at the Jelita Sejuta Ballroom, East Bunguran Laut District, on Wednesday afternoon (26/11). One of the key topics discussed was the management of Indonesia’s national border areas.
Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan was present alongside several other officials, including members of the Riau Islands Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD), the Chair and Deputy Chair of Natuna’s DPRD, the Vice Regent, the Regional Secretary, members of the local leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda), and heads of related regional government agencies.
In her remarks, Cen Sui Lan expressed the regional government’s strong support for the central government’s plan to revitalize the Serasan Border Crossing Post (PLBN). She emphasized that the PLBN should function not only as a gateway to the nation, but also as a hub for economic activity benefiting border communities.
She noted that a fully operational PLBN would strengthen cross-border trade, improve the flow of goods, and stimulate local economic activity—opening new business opportunities and helping communities market local products such as processed fishery goods, agricultural produce, handicrafts, and logistic transport services.
Cen Sui Lan also reaffirmed the regional government’s readiness to work closely with Commission II of the DPR RI in formulating strategic policies related to national boundaries, border area development, and the optimization of PLBN facilities in Natuna Regency.
The event concluded with a session of discussion and coordination, with hopes that the outcomes will contribute positively to the advancement of the region and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Pro-Kopim (D&S)
