Natuna Regent Encourages Citizens to Build the Region with the Spirit of Independence during State Ceremony Night

In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Natuna Regency Government held a State Ceremony Night on Sunday evening (August 17) at Piwang Beach.

The festive event was attended by the Regent of Natuna, Cen Sui Lan, Deputy Regent Jarmin, Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command I (Pangkogabwilhan I), Lieutenant General TNI Kunto Arief Wibowo, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), local government officials (OPD), community leaders, members of the national flag hoisting team (Paskibraka), students, and thousands of local residents.

The evening began with performances of traditional art and cultural showcases, followed by patriotic songs that further enlivened the celebration. This event served as a moment of unity for all levels of society in commemorating one of the most historic days in Indonesian history.

In her remarks, Regent Cen Sui Lan urged the community to take the 80th Independence Day as a source of motivation to advance regional development, emphasizing that the blessings of freedom are the fruits of the struggles of national heroes.

She further stated that it is now the responsibility of the current generation to fill the spirit of independence with real action—by building a more developed and prosperous Natuna, optimizing its vast potential and strengthening unity within its diverse society.

According to the Regent, the values of mutual cooperation and community solidarity in Natuna should serve as the primary capital in facing various challenges, especially given Natuna’s strategic role as one of the frontlines of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The evening grew even livelier with a variety of performances, including traditional arts, regional music, and dances from across the archipelago, presented by local students and art studios. The audience enthusiastically followed the event through to its conclusion.

The celebration marked the peak of the series of events commemorating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day in Natuna, concluding with the symbolic release of 1,000 lanterns by Regent Cen Sui Lan. (Prokopim/Patli)
