Natuna, July 27, 2025 – Regent of Natuna, Cen Sui Lan, held a working meeting with the Head of the National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of Riau Islands Province, Soendiarto, S.T., M.T., and his team to accelerate the improvement and development of strategic roads across Natuna Regency. The meeting, held at the Gedung Daerah, was a concrete step in addressing the urgent road infrastructure challenges impacting regional mobility and the local economy.
During the discussion, Regent Cen Sui Lan emphasized several priority proposals that urgently need to be followed up. These proposals are expected to play a crucial role in supporting food security, boosting tourism access, and opening isolated areas.
Among the key proposals submitted were: repair of Pelantar Main Road, Sedanau, stretching 600 meters, repair of Jalan Patimura, Sedanau, also 600 meters long, construction of the long-awaited Sedanau Ring Road, continued development of the Suspension Bridge in Segeram Village to strengthen inter-village connectivity.
On this occasion, The Regent also presented a strategic plan to develop Serasan Island as a key destination for international tourism, supported by the presence of a Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in the border area. However, she emphasized that this development must be accompanied by adequate infrastructure, especially in road construction across all villages in Serasan and East Serasan Districts, which need immediate completion to support equitable development.
Regent Cen underlined that improving road infrastructure would significantly enhance the region’s economy, facilitate transportation, and improve the quality of life for the people of Natuna. She expressed hope that the National Road Implementation Center would act swiftly in realizing these proposals, given the severe conditions of several main roads which are vital for community economic activities.
Meanwhile, Soendiarto, S.T., M.T., Head of BPJN Kepri, affirmed his full support for the proposals, stating that the meeting marked a positive step in strengthening synergy between the regional and central governments to resolve infrastructure issues in the region.
With strong commitment and collaboration, the strategic road improvements and constructions are expected to provide better access and reduce development disparity across Natuna. (Prokopim/Patli)
