The Natuna Regency Government and the Consul General of Singapore Agreed to Conduct a Cooperation Study to Support Regional Development.

The Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda, accompanied by the Regional Secretary, Boy Wijanarko Varianto, and several heads of related Regional Apparatus Organisations, welcomed the arrival of the Singapore Consul General’s entourage at the Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat Office, Jalan Batu Sisir Bukit Arai, Wednesday (15/01) morning.

The two parties held a meeting in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room, discussing about the great potential of Natuna, especially related to natural resources and Natuna’s strategic location on the international trade route.

Rodhial Huda explained that Natuna is a strategic area because it is on the international trade route. In addition, it has high potential to be developed, including in the fisheries, energy, and tourism sectors. However, until now it has not been managed optimally.

He acknowledged that to actualize the existing potential into a source of development capital and welfare, the need for intervention from both the central, provincial and cross-sectoral governments is still very high.

On this occasion, the Consul General of Singapore, Gavin also expressed his interest in Natuna’s potential, which was obtained from various sources and direct monitoring.

Gavin said that he wanted to further explore the potential development strategy to see investment and cooperation opportunities which in turn would support regional development while improving bilateral relations.

On this occasion, both parties agreed to conduct further studies on various concepts of forms of cooperation that might be realised in improving natural resources, and promoting the potential of the Natuna region to the international market. (Pro_kopim / Sri, Diana)
