The Launching of the Garda Pusaka Programme (Village Movement in Library Development) Year 2024.

The Regent of Natuna, represented by the Administrative Assistant of the Regional Secretariat of Natuna, Tasrif officially opened the Launching of the Garda Pusaka Programme 2024, held at the Hall of the Regional Archives Library Service (DPAD) of Natuna Regency, on Wednesday (29/02) morning.

Tasrif said that the DPAD of Natuna Regency has made every effort to boost the literacy index in Natuna Regency, as evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia on the level of the Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) in Riau Islands Province in 2023, which ranked first with a score of 82.45 (high).

Whereas this activity is a program initiated in 2018 which involves the Provincial Government, Regency / City Government, Sub-District and Village Governments, to develop the function and role of libraries in improving the quality of services, thereby improving the quality of life and welfare of the user community.

He hoped that the Village Heads who had participated in this programme could become beneficiaries of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation (TPBIS) programme launched by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (PNRI).

He acknowledged that the beneficiaries of TPBIS assistance could not be realised without a library building and a collection of books that became the centre of learning and community activities at the village government level.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Regional Library and Archives Office, Erson Gempa Apriadi, reported that the purpose of the Garda Pusaka activity is to improve community literacy development at the foremost government level (village) because the village library is one of the aspects that is an indicator in assessing the level of village progress.

To bring library services closer to the community in all government zones, especially to foster public interest in reading which will ultimately improve the quality of public education in Natuna Regency.

Attending the event were the Head of Education of Riau Islands Province, District and Sub-DIstrict heads, Village heads, The Head of PGRI, and school principals. Pro-Copim (D&S)
